Posted onVerified A Journey Through Alexandria & Cairo We recently booked a travel package with the tour agency, Gate 2 Egypt. We connected with their tour guide Mahmoud for two days to explore Alexandria and Cairo. The moment that he met us in Alexandria he displayed positive energy and was very personable while conducting the tour business. Amidst the hustle and bustle driving in the streets of Alexandria, Mahmoud made the travel safe. Throughout the extensive walking to view the ancient Roman Catacombs, the Pillar of Pompey, the Qaitbay Castle and Alexandria Library, Mahmoud energized each visit with his historical storytelling skills. After the Alexandria experience, we made a swift three-hour ride to Cairo for a two-hour Nile Crystal dinner and performances cruise. That evening, we were treated to a wonderful buffet dinner while enjoying several live music, dance and cultural performances. Mahmoud’s presence was welcomed as he helped us cheer on and applaud the performers. It was the perfect end to an incredible first day, and we were then transferred to our hotel near the pyramids. On the second day Mahmoud picked us up at the hotel and took us to the Giza Plateau, to experience the place on a guided Camel ride. Afterward, we had an opportunity to witness closely the Pyramids of the Kings and Queens, the Valley Temple, and the Great Sphinx. We finished our journey at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where Mahmoud shared stories of ancient Egypt’s past, from the displays at the Grand Staircase and throughout immense galleries filled with historical treasures. Finally, Mahmoud and his tour driver took us back to Alexandria, perfectly on schedule.The entire experience was seamless, and it was truly Mahmoud’s expertise and hospitality that made this journey unique. Most amazing day of our lives! Myself and two friends who were all of different abilities and traveling styles agreed to do this tour. We had no idea what we were getting in to but we were all so happy that we used Mamoud and his tour company for this trip. As someone who doesn’t use tour guides on trips, I was hesitant but it was a MUST. He took us through the pyramids flawlessly, let us see everything without rushing us and made sure we got great photos and explained everything thoroughly. Next he guided us to the camel ride which was a highlight for all of us. He took us to a tasty spot for lunch and then after that we went shopping (he let us decide where we wanted to go). Next up was ATVs through the downtown and then through the desert. This was the only part of the trip that he wasn’t with us but we felt super taken care of by the guides he handed us off to and he was waiting for us when we got back. After that he took us to the Nile boat cruise which was fun and enjoyable. The entire time, he was with us and we had the same fantastic driver that we felt safe leaving all of our personal items with in the van. We absolutely loved our day with him and can’t wait to come back and do more tours with him. As the one who normally plans the trips, I spent a long time looking for a guide who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be around and he was the best of all of these things. He took us all around Cairo from 9am to 7pm and managed all the logistics along with a driver (who was also lovely). He made us feel at ease from the moment we landed. He had excellent knowledge for both past and present Egypt, so we learned a lot from him. This was all arranged with under 24 hours notice as well! Super nice guy and spoke excellent English.
