I can't say enough about Mohmoud. We brought our family of 6 to Egypt for the first time, and he proved to be invaluable to us - in ways that extend beyond the duties of a tour guide.
Mahmoud scheduled our entire Egypt itenerary for us, and assisted us in getting home when we ran into trouble.
We started our trip in Cairo, where Mahmoud was our tour guide for those first two days. We have four boys, and the youngest is essentially feral. He is wild, easily bored, and generally hard to deal with in public. Mahmoud was very attentive to him, whilst still ensuring that all of the rest of us were able to see the sights we were intrested in, and learn all about the history of the region. By the end of the second day our youngest was smitten with Mahmoud, and he essentially became our babysitter while the rest of us explored.
After Cairo we flew to Hurghada, where Mahmoud has scheduled our transfer from the airport, planned a super fun day in the desert riding ATV's and visiting a Bedouin village. The next day he had another tour guide he knows pick us up and take us on a day trip to Luxor which included the temple of Karnak and the valley of the kings, both of which were extraordinary. We were very pleased with the guide he reserved as well.
Lastly, upon trying to return to our home in Europe we had issues with our VISAs for our youngest two children. Instead of flying from Hurghada, we had to go to the embassy in Cairo to sort things out. Mahmoud answered our panicked calls at all hours of the night, and ensured we have a transport from Hugrhada to Cairo the next morning (it was over the holidays and there were no flights for several days). I don't think there was a time that we needed something - tour related or otherwise, that Mahmoud didn't move heaven and earth to find a solution. It really felt like having a well-connected friend in Egypt.
If you're considering a trip to Egypt, then I can promise you won't find a better tour guide. Mahmoud is mature, speaks excellent English, functions as a personal photographer, is resourceful, and really knows the best sights to see. We are beyond thankful that we chose him.
Mr. Mahmoud: An Exceptional Guide in Cairo
During our visit to Cairo, Mr. Mahmoud served as an outstanding guide for my family and me. His approach was characterized by patience and excellent organization, which greatly enhanced our experience.
Mr. Mahmoud demonstrated a remarkable attention to detail while explaining the various historical sites we visited. His narratives were rich with information about Egyptian history, showcasing his extensive knowledge on the subject.
He was always ready to answer our questions with precision, reflecting his deep understanding of the topics discussed. It was evident that he had a genuine passion for Egyptian history, which made his storytelling engaging and informative.
What set Mr. Mahmoud apart was his ability to create a personal connection with us. He made us feel as though he was not just a guide but a member of our family, accompanying us through the streets of Cairo with warmth and friendliness.
His commitment to our well-being was apparent; he made himself available at all hours, ensuring we felt welcomed throughout our stay. Additionally, he played a crucial role in safeguarding us from common scams that many travelers encounter in Egypt.
Mr. Mahmoud provided us with a comprehensive overview of current events in Egypt, enriching our understanding of the country beyond its ancient past.
The most difficult part of our journey was bidding farewell to Mr. Mahmoud, who had become more than just a guide; he had become a friend.
I recently visited the Grand Egyptian Museum with Mahmoud who made the experience truly special. His extensive knowledge of ancient Egyptian history and the exhibits brought everything to life.
