You will be picked up in Luxor to drive to Edfu, about 110 km from Luxor. Your first stop is the Edfu Temple, dedicated to worshipping Horus, the god of power and protection in ancient times. See the impressive pylon and the amazing hypostyle hall of the temple, which is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Continue on to Kom Ombo, about 65 km further to the south, where you will visit the temple of Kom Ombo, built on high ground overlooking the Nile River. Inside, you will see the first calendar in human history. You can see how the ancient Egyptians counted and divided the year into 12 months, the months into weeks and the weeks into days. This temple is completely different from any other as it is dedicated to two different gods, Horus and Sobek, and so it has two different entrances. You will also see old medical tools used in ancient times, which is amazingly similar to the modern tools doctors still use these days. At the end of the day, you will be transported back to Luxor.
