Itinerary

1Meeting and introduction

Your private expert tour guide will pick you up from your hotel or cruise boat in Aswan in the early morning for an amazing day trip to exploring the two temples of Abu Simbel. You will make the drive of about three hours in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The two rock-cut temples at Abu Simbel are considered to be masterpieces of ancient Egypt. The temples were built by King Ramses II around 1200 BC. One temple is dedicated to King Ramses II and the second temple is dedicated to his favourite wife, Queen Nefertari. The temples were discovered in 1813, almost completely covered with sand. The Egyptian government, with the help of UNESCO, moved the temples in 1960 to prevent them from being flooded when the Aswan High Dam was built. You will be transported back to your accommodation in Aswan at the end of the day.
